 An opportunity has become available for a SHE In-service Trainee based at National Brands Westmead Biscuits factory in Pinetown, Durban, reporting to the Safety Manager. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.               

Key Areas of Impact:

 Interns will be involved in learning and assisting with a wide range of SHEQ-related functions, including but not limited to:

 Assisting in the review and updating of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and standards

  • Supporting the promotion of safety awareness and fostering a proactive health and safety culture
  • Participating in SHE initiatives and contributing to projects that drive SHEQ best practices
  • Assisting in the analysis of SHEQ data and reports, identifying improvement areas, and proposing actionable solutions
  • Participating in risk assessments, site inspections, and hazard identification processes
  • Representing health and safety concerns to management and addressing employee SHE-related queries or complaints
  • Monitoring workplace conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards and reporting potential hazards
  • Supporting the enforcement of SHE policies and procedures for both internal staff and contractors
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of internal and external SHE audits
  • Coordinating and conducting inductions and basic SHE training sessions
  • Collaborating with various departments in developing and implementing SHEQ procedures and systems
  • Supporting fire and security risk management initiatives

 Qualifications that will contribute to your success:

  •  Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric)
  • National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
